Social Media/ Communications Manager

16-18 hours /month 

$500 CAD /month

Independent Contractor. 6-month contract to begin, with possibility to extend to permanent

Work from home with the possibility of co-working in shared ABDP office space. Flexible schedule with some daytime weekday hours requires

Who we are

All Bodies Dance Project is an inclusive dance company located on unceded Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), SÉ™lÌ“ílwÉ™taɬ (Tsleil- Waututh), and xÊ·mÉ™θkwÉ™yÌ“É™m (Musqueam) territories (Vancouver, BC, Canada). Our mission is to create opportunities for people of all abilities, genders, sizes, and backgrounds to practice, research, and create innovative, inclusive dance. Our work straddles labels of community-engaged and professional practice. We aim to dismantle assumptions, biases and default notions around contemporary dance, the theatre and the dancing body. Through mentorship and training, we are helping to develop a new and under-represented group of dance-makers, teachers and artistic leaders with a unique set of values and approaches.

We are a small non-profit arts organization looking for someone to manage our social media and online platforms to keep us connected with our community. We are looking for someone who shares our values and is excited to work collaboratively to build this position. 

 

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Creative, curious, sensitive, kind

  • Passionate about arts and culture

  • Values accessibility, inclusion and disability justice

  • A collaborative team member with the ability to take direction 

 

We want to work with someone who has:

  • Knowledge or experience of Facebook, Instagram, Mailchimp and Google Workspace, Canva and Wix  (or willingness to learn)

  • The ability to produce digital content on multiple platforms

  • Excellent writing skills and ability to describe visual images and recorded content (or willingness to learn and be trained)

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Familiarity with the non-profit, performing arts, community arts sectors

  • The capacity to work independently

  • A strong interest in community and relationship-building

 

Responsibilities:

  • To serve the mandate, mission, and vision of All Bodies Dance Project

  • Work with the team to create and implement a social media strategy

  • Monitor social media channels

  • Develop content and marketing materials 

  • Create monthly newsletters

  • Build and maintain online network and audience

  • Support marketing and publicity

  • Ensure design and brand identity as well as accessibility protocols are followed

  • Engage with the public through social media communications

  • Write image descriptions, caption videos, and work with graphic designer 

  • Participate in team meetings and debriefs

 

Supports available for this position

We can provide ASL interpretation for team meetings, flexible schedule, training in writing image descriptions, mentorship, professional development, a fragrance-free shared ABDP office space, and we are committed to working with and providing for other access needs.
